About Truth

(Abstract)

Prof. Dr. Mario Drajev

The paper mentions briefly the significance of Truth as a reference point of human activity, as one of the fundamental elements of the spiritual value systems as well as in the philosophical and religious doctrines.

It discusses the widely propagated definition of Truth – “a correct reflection of the material world in human consciousness” and it points out that every reflection is only a fragmentary and inexact amount of data. A quantitative criterion of the reliability of reflection is proposed. It is shown that the further intensification of the interactions leads to an increase of the fullness of reflection, but at the same time – also of the errors introduced because of the changes in the reflected Side.

The paper points out that the Truth is not simply a reflection, but expressed relevant assessment of the coincidence of a given model with its corresponding reality. Truth can be considered not only as а posteriori product of reflection (like the laws of science, which have restricted space-time limits of application), but also as an a priori principle that determines the way Reality is organized.

The paper mentions the views of Eastern thinking on the introvert achievement of Truth by means of our own consciousness – regarded as an inseparable part of the Whole. The rational and scientific methods of the western thinking, however, can be accepted not only as an extrovert path to Knowledge and Wisdom but also as means and ways of transforming and developing ourselves on the road to Truth and Perfection considered as the Goal and Meaning of every Existence.
